A="aingyi" waist-length blouse of sheer, white nylon lace-like mesh. Mandarin collar and off-center front opening with decorative frog and loop closures. Short sleeves. B=Cotton chemise. C="longyi" skirt in forest green silk with 12" horizontal band of silver fiber woven designs. Attached black cotton waistband, 6". Purchased by donor in 1953.
Note from donor regarding 1st image of lady: "picture of a friend, Ma Hla Myint, in her best aingyi & longyi." The aingyi (sheer top) looks very similar to the donated blouse, but the donor does not directly attribute this blouse to her friend.
The 2nd image has the following information from the donor:
"copy the official portrait of the pre-med class and their teachers at the No. 1 State High School in Moulmein, Burma, 1953 showing the men and women faculty and children in their '"Sunday best.'"
